"PD door", the savior of small apartments

I don't know if you have heard of "PD door". This kind of door leaf is actually very friendly to small apartments and can make full use of small spaces, but in fact, it also has some obvious disadvantages.

PD door is actually a special folding door that can be pushed and pulled. The effect of installation is not bad, and the most important thing is to save space.

But some friends around me regretted it after installing this kind of PD door, mainly because of these shortcomings. Let's see if you can accept it~

1. You can't install extremely narrow edges

Nowadays, many bathroom doors have to install extremely narrow door frames in order to achieve the minimalist effect, but if you want to make this kind of PD door, it is actually difficult to find a suitable extremely narrow door frame, that is to say, you can't achieve the effect of extremely narrow edges. After many friends finish the decoration, it seems to affect the decoration effect of the home, and they feel a little regretful.

Of course, if the space really does not allow, the appearance should also be placed behind practicality.

2. Opening the door requires two steps

Although this type of door leaf saves space, it takes two steps to open the door. For lazy people like me, or some elderly people and children, it is actually quite troublesome. Sometimes you may accidentally pinch your hands. I personally feel that this is also a disadvantage.

3. It is easier to break

In fact, this is also because there are more steps to open the door, and because of its own structure, it is easier to break than the swing door, and if it breaks, it is more troublesome to repair. After the PD door in many friends’ homes breaks, most of them choose to directly replace it with a folding door or a swing door. In short, the experience is not good.

4. It is more expensive than the swing door

There are more parts and a more complex structure, so overall, the PD door is definitely more expensive than the swing door, so everyone still has to think clearly in advance whether to pay more to save this part of the space. In other words, whether you can accept the above 4 more obvious shortcomings.

Summary

In short, I personally think that PD doors have their unique advantages - opening and closing the door does not take up much space, and the door opening effect is also good. This type of door is indeed a relatively novel idea and can be called a savior for small apartments.

But again, you have to be able to accept the above 4 shortcomings. Don't think clearly before installing it, and then complain and regret it after installation. It will be really troublesome to change it.

Would you make this kind of PD door?
